Background

BAE Systems is making good progress to embed D&I into everything we do, however we do recognise the journey we are on and that we still have a long way to go. We recognise that there are times we need to reach out externally for Subject Matter Expertise and given the sensitivity of our programme we wanted to ensure that our offering was not only able to create a programme that would educate and support our senior leaders but also enable a safe space for employees from marginalised groups to share lived experiences.

Gamiel is known to BAE Systems D&I Function due to his role as Expert Panellist for the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB). Given his broad knowledge of D&I we had the confidence that Gamiel would be able to provide the support that we were looking for that covered a broad range of D&I topics we have.

Training

Gamiel provided initial Subject Matter Expertise in the creation of the programme as well as scene setting and mid-way support for all relevant employees.

During the sessions Gamiel ran he also went above and beyond by offering more personalised support to the group should they wish.

Gamiel has remained as a great sounding board to myself and the programme – to which I am very grateful

Support

Gamiel was extremely adaptable throughout our whole process which saw the scope change multiple times, he was very open to a hybrid approach which at one point would have seen him co-create material right through to a more informal offering of which we settled on.

Gamiel has a very mindful, considerate and empathetic. He made the participants feel at ease and willing to share their thoughts, concerns and feelings.

For me personally working with Gamiel, I felt that I had a great support in him and he always gave me time and above all sharing his knowledge in a coaching manner.

Impact

The programme itself has been really impactful, although we are still in the pilot stage. What it is showing us so far is that these types of programmes are needed and create a safe for two way learning.

Summary

Working with Gamiel is an absolute pleasure, he is a font of knowledge, extremely adaptable and resonates with employees at any level of the organisation. I will happily work with Gamiel again and recommend him to others who are passionate about creating diverse and Inclusive environments.
